WWUGL + Veolia = the Big PNE Sleep Out

At Workwear Uniform Group (WWUGL), we believe that a business is only as strong as the communities it supports. That is why we are incredibly proud to be supporting the Foxton Centre and their latest initiative, the Big PNE Sleep Out. Taking place at Deepdale, the iconic home of Preston North End FC, this event brings together local people and businesses to raise vital funds and awareness for those facing homelessness in Preston.

This year, the sleep out has a particularly poignant focus: tackling the rising tide of female homelessness.

For many, homelessness is often hidden – involving women and girls who are staying in temporary, unsafe or unstable conditions. The Foxton Centre has been a pillar of the Preston community for over 50 years, providing a lifeline through their Women’s Centre, Housing First project and emergency accommodation. Their work provides not just a roof, but dignity, safety and a pathway to a brighter future for those it supports.

We’ve partnered with our valued client, Veolia, to ensure that those enduring the weather for the night stay safe and visible by providing branded high-vis PPE for the participants – free of charge of course. In an environment like a stadium at night, being seen is essential for safety, and we want to ensure that every volunteer feels protected while they stand in solidarity with those who have no choice but to sleep rough.

Michael Treadwell at Veolia has been instrumental in coordinating this partnership, and it has been a privilege to work alongside a client who shares our commitment to social responsibility.

While the participants are provided with nothing more than a sheet of cardboard – which is later collected and recycled by the Veolia team – the mission at hand is focused on reaching an ambitious £100,000 fundraising target.

Homelessness is a complex issue that requires a collective response.

By providing high-vis PPE, we hope to play a small but meaningful part in an event that changes lives.

We’re humbled by the work the Foxton Centre does every single day and are honoured to stand with them, Veolia and the people of Preston to make a real difference.
